English Country Pottery has a factory shop on site just down the stairs from where the large range of pottery is made. Each pot is taken through eight traditional processes, before being handpainted and signed by the painters. Finally, the pattern is sealed under the glaze and fired, making it very durable: oven, dishwasher and microwave proof. Here, seconds and discontinued pottery from their own ranges are sold at discounted prices. Some of the pottery has been made by special commission for department stores, galleries and mail order companies, some is wholesaled to the independent gift trade. Because of this, and the fact that they design and manufacture their own pottery, the variety of styles is very wide, resulting in a vibrant, individualistic and very English style of pottery. The designs include farm animals, traditional countryside scenes and a selection of very modern designs. The range also includes tableware, children's items, giftware and bathroom accessories, as well as a large range of wall tiles, hand decorated with sea, animal and floral motifs with coordinating plain coloured tiles.
