Silken Ladder originally specialised in the design, manufacture and wholesale of women's blouses and tops in a myriad of options, both pretty and classic. Now their ranges extend to four labels. They still produce two complete new ranges of blouses, one under the Silken Ladder label, while La Scala di Seta is their upmarket label for evening wear and special occasions. The Victoria Roche label designates coordinating jackets, skirts, trousers and dresses in beautiful fabrics, both natural and manmade, printed and plain. Their fast-growing clientele are discerning women with busy lifestyles who need to be practical about easy care, look smart and prefer to buy from other than the multinationals. The factory outlet at Roche sells, at appropriately reduced prices, the prototypes, samples, ends-of-lines, overmakes and less-than-perfect garments that inevitably result from an operation which supplies between 300 and 400 shops and organisations in one season. There is an enormous selection - around 3,500 different options at any one time - of quality garments at very reasonable prices. Bargains range from £3 and sizes from 8 to 30. Current ranges are also available. Exclusive nightwear and underwear, in cotton, polycotton and pure silk, is also available, as is a range of scarves and other accessories. For men, Silken Ladder's own shirt label is Sanderson Hall. Superbly cut shirts now range in size up to 19 1/2 inch collar. Silk ties and boxer shorts are also available. Find Silken Ladder on the A30, six miles west of Bodmin and six miles north of St Austell (six miles from the Eden Project), next to a BP petrol station and opposite the Victoria Inn and business park. Recently refurbished, this highly individual operation is well worth a visit.
