There are now three annual Grand Sales taking place countrywide. The Christmas Grand Sale in London, with over 140 different small companies selling their merchandise to the public, is the largest. This takes place in mid-late November each year. Quality is high and covers everything from French lavender sachets, hand-painted furniture, made-to-measure blinds, 19th century wall clocks, unusual watercolours, cinammon-scented apple wreaths, traditional American tinware, children's pyjama cases, candle sconces, handmade Indian pickles, bamboo placemats, embossed copper sketchbooks, Art Deco mirrors, silk embroidered cushions, herbal tinctures, English garden trugs, African shopping baskets, handmade wrapping paper, elegant kitchen woodware, beaded handbags, bespoke Ottomans, fine champagne, baby sleeping bags, nautical mirrors, painted dog and cat beds, ties and matching cufflinks, antique Bergeres suites, Egyptian cotton bedlinen, often at competitive prices because the trader has either imported or made the products themselves so there is no middleman to take a cut. There is a four-day Spring Grand Sale at Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe, near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, usually at the end of April/beginning of May, and a four-day Summer Grand Sale at Ripley Castle, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in early June. Both feature gardening furniture and equipment as well as decorative home accessories and a selection of top quality fashion and accessories.
